The SecureMesh Extender Bridge integrates a SecureMesh WAN Extender with a SecureMesh NAN access point.  With the same physical configuration as a SecureMesh Extender, the Extender Bridge provides omnidirectional coverage as part of the WAN using the same 8-beam antenna array as an Extender.

With the WAN’s patented time-synchronous beamswitching protocol, the Extender Bridge serves as a relay node within the WAN, supporting traffic to/from other WAN Gateways, Extenders, Connectors, and Bridges.

The Extender Bridge, like an Extender, offers an Ethernet port to provide one or more Smart Grid distribution devices with WAN connectivity, but, unlike a standard Extender, includes the functionality of NAN access point.  As an access point for the NAN, the Extender Bridge establishes and controls the subnetwork of NAN meters, in-building devices, and other nodes; collects and aggregates upstream data from those nodes; and provides SNMP-based management for the subnetwork.  The SecureMesh Extender Bridge is available with an optional 2.4 GHz 802.11g Wi-Fi or 4.9 GHz 802.11a public safety band access point.
