    The U.S. DOE has granted a $9.9 million to help implement and advance Smart Grid technology.  The electrical utility currently provides the central Oregon coast with power between North Bend and Newport – making it the 4th largest in Oregon.

    The DOE has identified the worst area for transmission congestion in the entire United States.  According to reports, the area stretches from mid-state New York down the Atlantic Coast to Northern Virginia.  Southern California’s urban centers also made the list.
