UMC Capital Corp. Invests in Trilliant

Trilliant Incorporated, a leading provider of Smart Grid communication solutions that enhance energy efficiency, utility operations, and renewable resource integration, today announced that Taiwan-based UMC Capital, the corporate venture arm of leading semiconductor foundry United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), has invested in Trilliant. UMC Capital joins Investor Growth Capital, VantagePoint Venture Partners, ABB, and GE in Trilliant’s latest round of financing.

To further support utility customers in the region, Trilliant announced that they are opening a corporate office for the Asia Pacific market. Along with the investment, UMC will be assisting Trilliant with their planned market expansion.

Dr. Steven R. Specker Joins the Trilliant Board of Directors

Trilliant Incorporated, a leading provider of Smart Grid communication solutions that enhance energy efficiency, utility operations, and renewable resource integration, today announced the appointment of Dr. Steven R. Specker to the company Board of Directors.  The appointment is effective immediately.

Dr. Specker most recently served as President and CEO of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) in Palo Alto, CA from 2004 to 2010.  Prior to leading EPRI, he founded a private consulting firm, Specker Consulting, LLC, that provided operational and strategic planning services to technology companies serving the global electric power industry.

Trilliant Wins New Contract with Centrica’s British Gas for Smart Grid Communications Infrastructure

Trilliant Incorporated, a Smart Grid communications provider and leader in delivering solutions that enhance energy efficiency, utility operations, and renewable resource integration, today announced that it has been selected by British Gas to provide the communications equipment for their Smart Meter deployment. Trilliant Partners with HD Supply Utilities to Grow Municipal and Cooperative Smart Grid Opportunities

Trilliant Incorporated, a Smart Grid communications provider and leader in delivering solutions that enhance energy efficiency, utility operations, and renewable resource integration, today announced a distribution agreement with HD Supply Utilities, North America’s largest electric utilities distributor.  Under the agreement, HD Supply Utilities will offer Trilliant’s full line of Smart Grid solutions to its municipal and electric cooperative utility customers.

Trilliant has led the Smart Grid industry in the development and deployment of a Smart Grid multi-tier architecture, which provides an integrated communications solution coupled with head-end software to provide public power utilities with a solution to meet their Smart Grid networking demands.  Trilliant’s multi-tier Smart Grid architecture also provides distinct components that are fine-tuned for each tier.

Denton Municipal Electric Selects Trilliant for Expanded Smart Grid Deployment

Trilliant Incorporated, a Smart Grid communications provider and leader in delivering solutions that enhance energy efficiency, utility operations, and renewable resource integration, today announced that Denton Municipal Electric (DME) in Denton, Texas has selected Trilliant as the communication network solution for their Smart Grid implementation. Following a successful pilot program, DME is moving ahead with a replacement of their existing AMR system with the expectation to replace a total of 45,000 meters over a five-year period.

Denton is located near the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, with a population of more than 100,000 citizens. DME is owned by the residents of Denton, and offers safe, reliable service and competitive rates.

Trilliant Raises $106 Million of Capital

Trilliant Incorporated, a leader in delivering Smart Grid solutions that enhance energy efficiency, utility operations, and renewable resource integration, today announced that it has closed financing totaling $106 million from a global syndicate of industry and financial leaders.

The financing round was led by two highly-respected financial investors, Investor Growth Capital (the wholly-owned venture arm of Investor AB of Sweden) and VantagePoint Venture Partners and two leading global grid-related equipment companies, ABB and GE. The financing, which was coordinated by Deutsche Bank, also includes a significant credit facility from a major venture credit provider as well as continuing financial support from existing investors MissionPoint Capital Partners and zouk ventures. The new investment will be used to finance Trilliant’s continued growth in North America and globally.

Central Maine Power Proceeds with Trilliant for Smart Grid Communications Network

Trilliant Incorporated, a leader in delivering Smart Grid solutions that enhance energy efficiency, utility operations and renewable resource integration, today announced that it has completed agreements with Central Maine Power (CMP) to provide a complete Smart Grid communications network and advanced meter infrastructure solution. The company will install smart meters for all of its 620,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customer accounts beginning later this summer.

The Smart Grid deployment will use Trilliant’s SecureMesh™ communications network to provide a comprehensive high-bandwidth private Wide Area Network (WAN) and Neighborhood Area Network (NAN) that interconnects meters and other Smart Grid-enabled devices to enable consumer energy management. Trilliant’s UnitySuite™ head-end software will be used to manage the Smart Grid network. Other services include prime supply of electric meters, network design and installation services, software integration, and project management.

Trilliant Announces Smart Grid Industry’s First Integration of NAN and WAN Tiers

This is the Smart Grid industry’s first fully-integrated private WAN/NAN solution and is a result of Trilliant’s strategic acquisition of broadband wireless equipment provider SkyPilot Networks in Q2 2009.

Trilliant Named to List of Greentech Media Top 50 Startups

Trilliant Incorporated, a leader in delivering Smart Grid solutions that enhance energy efficiency, utility operations, and renewable resource integration, announced today it has been named to the GTM 50, the Top 50 Greentech Startups, by Greentech Media.

Greentech Media initially evaluated more than 500 companies.  Greentech Media’s energy analysts, reporters and editors then narrowed the list to 50 and identified the companies that they believe will make the most impact in the energy and greentech space.  Trilliant was one of 11 companies highlighted in the Smart Grid and EV Infrastructure category.
