Job Description
Trilliant is a fast-growing Silicon Valley cleantech company providing end-to-end wireless solutions to utilities worldwide.  Used advanced wireless networking technologies, Trilliant helps utilities to create very large scale wireless mesh networks that give energy consumers more control over energy consumption. Trilliant is currently hiring a Director, Systems Engineering, who will report to the VP of Infrastructure Development. The Director, Engineering Systems will build and manage the systems engineering group, which will be responsible for system integration testing along with characterizing and improving network performance. The group will work closely with the rest of Trilliant’s engineering teams to design and implement compelling products, and will work closely with the rest of Trilliant’s product management team to articulate network performance to the customers and the market.

Essential Functions

• Build a strong team of systems engineers
• Validate system performance through:
• Analyzing statistics from existing deployed customer network.
• Simulating large-scale network performance.
• Setting up and running network test beds.
• Testing and characterizing new network and software products before release to the field.
• Ensuring device interoperability across different product versions.
• Support the sales and marketing team with system-level technical analyses:
• Articulate network technical characteristics through technical presentations and whitepapers.
• Provide presentations and written analysis of network performance.
• Support proposal writers by providing technical analysis and test results.
• Support Trilliant’s professional services team:
• Understand network characteristics and identify areas for efficiency improvements.
• Provide technical documentation and training for field services team.
• Evaluate new and emerging technologies as part of Trilliant’s overall technology strategy.

Position Requirements

• Ten+ years in engineering in startup technology companies.
• Deep knowledge of networking technology and RF products mandatory.
• Knowledge of utilities, wireless technologies and metering highly desired.
• Experience with wireless mesh technologies, cellular technologies, and network management technologies preferred.
• Ability to contribute to defining a strategic technology vision and to articulate it in front of customers and internal audiences.
• Ability to communicate at varying levels of technical detail with customers, business partners, internal marketing, sales, support and engineering staffs, in one-on-one and group situations.
• Proven ability to build and lead an engineering team.  Strong leadership is a must.
• Experience defining and executing testing strategies for complex, multi-technology networks.
• Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.

Education and Certification

• Engineering background required, MS or Ph.D. preferred.
